When I was ten, my birthday present request was a screwdriver to use with my grandfather. I know what it means to be made to feel wrong, or when people tell you, “this is not a girly toy”.
For twenty years I ignored them, and this lead me to the RSA to study my degree. I think ignoring them brought me further than they have ever been.
