South Africa, Gauteng, Female, 24 and under

Going to a hardware store to buy university materials has always been an experience. When asking for glue sticks I have been handed a hand full of coloured gluesticks with glitter with the assumption that I am undertaking scrapbooking. When asking for paint and rollers I have been asked “are you experimenting?” I am constantly being indirectly told that I do not belong in this industry when my knowledge of it is questioned.
