South Africa, Gauteng, Male, 25-34

Archaic social norms are embedded in our society’s views. There is so much unlearning we need to do so we can make room for equality in the workplace. We’re encouraged to believe that the workspace is for males and this is how they need to contribute to society. In as much as this is untrue, females are undermined, and the world of employment continues to be directed to males.

What is positive (especially with studies such as this one) is that females are learning to use their voices and the fact that they are allowed to occupy space. Occupying space is a catalyst for unlearning and relearning and I do believe that generations to come will be more receptive to equality.
