South Africa, Johannesburg, Female, 24 and under

At first I wasn’t concerned about cultural roles, my parents brought me up in such a way that I didn’t have to worry about stereotypes. It wasn’t until 2nd year when someone commented that Muslim women don’t really do graphic design & I had thought about it and noticed that there weren’t many women like myself in the field. Also when industry speakers come to talk to our classes, it was mostly men & if there women, they had to work harder to assume their high positions in the work place. My hope is that women and men can even out the playing field.
