The creative force and spirit are knocked out of women as they have to make choices between children and careers. There is no such thing as having it all. Not if you want to give 100% to both. It is not possible.

There are too many white men of privilege in design who have had a lifetime of getting their own way.
Being alpha. Knowing what’s best. Too many are on send and not receive.

This is not just about gender but about a broader need for other (less privileged) visual voices to contribute and be valued in shaping the future of Design.

When women in design ‘craft’ it is marginalised when men in design craft it is admired.

In education, certain male staff nurture a culture of creating prodigies (in my own image) – a fixed ideology and sense of self-worth and ego. Design is about working together. But design education (as a result of the assessment process) measures the individual.
