UK, Gloucestershire, Female, 24 and under

I am confident, determined, and have strong opinions when it comes to design. I want to push boundaries with branding, to create new and exciting designs. However, I was warned by my male lecturer that these words are too ‘powerful and impactful’. The way I talk about myself and my ambition ‘smacks of arrogance’. I’m told that when I have my own agency one day, I’ll be allowed to talk about myself using these words. But now, as a female student designer, I can’t brand myself in such a way. I have to fit into the expectations of an agency and act in a certain manner. The question is, what if one of my male peers used this language, would they be penalised like I was?
